Thinking about becoming a Childminder?

Childminding is a rewarding and flexible career choice where you can work from home at times to suit you and your family.

As a registered childminder you will:

  • Help children learn and develop
  • Work in your own home, choosing the hours that suit you and your family
  • Build your own business with the help and support of the local authority

If you want to help give children the best start in life, being a registered childminder could be the ideal job for you

Help to start up

As with any business, there are costs involved in becoming a registered childminder.
However, for a limited period we will cover the cost of your initial training, which could be a saving of up to £150.

Further funding of up to £255 for training costs plus £100 worth of early years resources is available to people who live in certain areas in Rotherham*.

The next funded training dates are the 8th and 22nd September 2018. This is a 2 day course and you must attend both sessions.

FREE support will be available to you from the local authority during the registration process and ongoing throughout your career as a childminder.

All registered childminders have to:

  • Be registered with Ofsted
  • Hold an up to date paediatric first aid certificate
  • Be DBS checked
  • Understand and implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and complete training to support this as required
  • Have appropriate insurance cover, including Public Liability Insurance.
